About VitalAssess

Helping employees access the right care, at the right time.

At VitalAssess, we believe employees should have fast access to experienced clinicians when they become unwell—not days or weeks later. Early clinical assessment helps people access the most appropriate care quickly, supports better health outcomes and can help employers manage workplace health concerns more effectively.

VitalAssess provides independent telephone and video clinical assessments for employees across the UK. Every consultation is delivered by an HCPC-registered paramedic with extensive experience in emergency, urgent and primary care. Our clinicians provide evidence-informed clinical assessment, advice, safety-netting and signposting to the most appropriate healthcare service, always working within their professional scope of practice.

VitalAssess was founded by Liam after recognising a gap in workplace healthcare. Throughout his career as a paramedic, he saw first-hand how delays in accessing timely clinical advice often resulted in uncertainty for employees, avoidable use of healthcare services and difficult decisions for employers. It became clear that businesses needed rapid access to experienced clinicians who could assess symptoms, identify potential risks and guide employees towards the right care without unnecessary delay.

Our role is simple: assess, advise and guide.

Whether an employee can be supported through self-care, requires advice from a community pharmacy, needs a GP appointment, urgent treatment or emergency care, VitalAssess helps ensure they access the right healthcare pathway as quickly and safely as possible.

Every assessment is carried out with professionalism, compassion and respect. We believe every employee deserves to be listened to, assessed thoroughly and provided with clear, practical advice that supports informed healthcare decisions.

Our mission is to provide businesses with rapid access to trusted clinical expertise, helping employees receive timely, evidence-informed assessments while supporting organisations to create healthier, safer and more productive workplaces.

The Clinical Experience Behind VitalAssess

Many people associate paramedics solely with emergency care and life-threatening situations. While emergency response remains an important part of the profession, modern paramedic practice has evolved significantly.

Today's paramedics work across emergency, urgent, community and in many roles, primary care settings. They assess and manage a wide range of health conditions and are highly trained in clinical assessment, decision-making and recognising when someone requires urgent intervention or when they can be safely managed through self-care, community services or primary care.

A key part of modern paramedic practice is ensuring patients are directed to the right service at the right time. This may include signposting to a GP, community pharmacy, urgent treatment centre, specialist service or emergency care, depending on the individual's needs.

VitalAssess was founded on this broad clinical experience. Every assessment is approached with careful listening, structured clinical reasoning and evidence-based decision-making. We take the time to understand each employee's symptoms, medical history and functional ability before providing clear, practical advice that supports both the employee and their employer.

Our goal is simple: to help people access the most appropriate care as quickly as possible while providing employers with practical, workplace-focused recommendations that support safe, informed decision-making

Meet Liam Croucher

Healthcare has been my passion for over 14 years. Throughout my career, I've been privileged to work with people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, providing care, reassurance and making important clinical decisions when they matter most.

For the past 11 years, I have worked within the ambulance sector, including five years as a paramedic in a fast-paced environment where every day brings new challenges. I've cared for patients of all ages with a huge variety of medical conditions, from minor illnesses and injuries to life-threatening emergencies. Those experiences have taught me not only how to assess patients thoroughly but also how important it is to listen, build trust and make safe evidence-based decisions.

One of the biggest misconceptions about modern paramedics is that our role is only about emergency blue-light response. In reality much of our work involves detailed clinical assessment, deciding the most appropriate pathway for a patient and ensuring they receive the right care at the right time. Whether that's supporting someone to self-manage at home, referring them to their GP or recognising when urgent hospital care is needed, our role is centred around making the right clinical decision for each individual.

I'm incredibly proud of my profession and the experience it has given me. It inspired me to create VitalAssess so I could use those skills in a different way—helping employers support their staff while ensuring employees receive compassionate, professional and evidence-based clinical advice.

Workplace Health Assessments

When an employee becomes unwell, they can access a same-day telephone or video consultation with an experienced HCPC-registered paramedic. During the assessment, we evaluate their symptoms, identify any clinical risks, provide clear advice, and guide them to the most appropriate healthcare service. Every consultation includes appropriate safety-netting and is delivered within our professional scope of practice.
